When an earthquake tears open the earth, Dorothy tumbles into an extraordinary underground realm-and her adventures in Oz are far from over! Reunited with the clever Wizard and joined by a talking kitten, a cab-horse who's discovered he can speak, and Dorothy's young cousin Zeb, our heroine must navigate through strange and perilous lands beneath the surface. From the eerie Glass City to the valley of invisible bears, from wooden Gargoyles' mountain lair to the mysterious Land of the Mangaboos, danger and wonder await at every turn. But Dorothy's heart yearns for the Emerald City and her dear friends-the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion. To reach them, she and her companions must survive treacherous realms where nothing is quite as it seems and escape may prove impossible. Can the Wizard's ingenuity and Dorothy's courage see them through to the magical land they call home? Or will they remain trapped forever in the earth's mysterious depths? The fourth book in L. Frank Baum's beloved Oz series delivers a thrilling subterranean adventure filled with imagination, friendship, and the magic that has captivated readers for generations. Newly designed and typeset by Waking Lion Press.
Autorenporträt
Lyman Frank Baum (1856 - 1919), better known by his pen name L. Frank Baum, was an American author chiefly known for his children's books, particularly The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He wrote thirteen novel sequels, nine other fantasy novels and a host of other works (55 novels in total, plus four "lost works", 83 short stories, over 200 poems, an unknown number of scripts and many miscellaneous writings) His works anticipated such century-later commonplaces as television, augmented reality, laptop computers (The Master Key), wireless telephones (Tik-Tok of Oz), women in high risk, action-heavy occupations (Mary Louise in the Country) and the ubiquity of advertising on clothing (Aunt Jane's Nieces at Work).
