Reproducible, relevant, and research-based activities to help K-5 students learn phonics and spelling In Droppin' Knowledge on Phonics, teaching veterans Heidi and Adam Martin deliver an action-oriented guide that bridges the gap between the latest education research and real-world teaching practice. The authors walk you through contemporary evidence on how K-5 or elementary students learn best and offer reproducible activities, games, and tips you can use immediately to bolster phonics and spelling curricula. The book provides ready-to-go resources you can use with your existing curriculum as warm-ups, homework, extra-credit assignments, or as in-class additions to your lesson plans. You'll figure out how to deepen learners' understanding of important spelling and phonics concepts and give them an opportunity for "quick wins" that increase their confidence and activate prior learning. Droppin' Knowledge on Phonics shows you how to teach students how to read, help struggling readers, and improve student outcomes without requiring you to wade through inaccessible research. It's perfect for K-5 teachers, as well as homeschooling parents and early career teachers, parents, reading specialists, and literary coaches looking for valuable, hands-on, and step-by-step reading resources.
