Zaffar Mahdi Dar schloss sein Studium der Landwirtschaft am Khalsa College in Amritsar ab und erwarb später einen Master-Abschluss in Pflanzenphysiologie an der AAIDU in Allahabad (U.P.), wo er eine Goldmedaille erhielt. Anschließend promovierte er in Pflanzenphysiologie an der BHU in Varanasi (U.P.) und arbeitet seit 2009 als Assistenzprofessor an der SKUAST-K.
