During the last decade, Multi drug- resistant salmonella species have increased to a great deal, especially in developing countries. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine the prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of salmonella species among food handlers working at university of Gondar students' dining rooms. Descriptive statistics such as percentage, proportion, range, median and mean were applied to compute of the data. It was generated using the procedure of frequency (FREQ) and expressed in percent. In this regard, Thirteen(3.1%) were found to be positive for salmonella isolates as well as the result of antimicrobial susceptibility test that from a total of 13 isolates, 9(69.2%), 8(61.5%), 6(46.2%) and 6(46.2%) were resistant to amoxicilline, ampicilline, nitrofurantoin and tetracyclin respectively. In both addition, nearly half (46.2%) of the isolates were multi-drug resistant. However, all of them were sensitive for both ceftriaxone and gentamycine.
