We spent every summer in the Mississippi Delta visiting our grandparents and running barefoot on the red dirt roads. One of our earliest memories was working together to plant seasonal gardens. We were always excited, because we knew later on we enjoy the fruits of our labor for meals and family celebrations. The rest of our summers were filled with time playing outdoors with our sister and cousins; swimming in the lake riding bikes, fishing, and enjoying our favorite fruits and vegetables out of the garden. Now, our children spend their summers planting their own gardens and creating their own memories of the Mississippi Delta.
