Autorenporträt
Jhumpa Lahiri, nacida en Reino Unido de padres bengalíes, pasó su infancia y juventud en Estados Unidos. Es autora de cuatro libros de narrativa: El buen nombre, El intérprete del dolor, Tierra desacostumbrada y La hondonada, los tres últimos publicados por Salamandra. En otras palabras es su primera obra de no ficción. Ha sido galardonada con el Premio Pulitzer, el PEN/Hemingway y el Premio Frank O#Connor. En 2012 ingresó en la Academia Estadounidense de las Artes y las Letras y en 2015 recibió la Medalla Nacional de Humanidades.
