Gérard Encausse (La Coruña, 1865-París, 1916), más conocido por su pseudónimo de Papus, fue un erudito, doctor en medicina y cirugía pero también astrólogo y consejero del Zar Nicolás II. Está considerado como «el Balzac del ocultismo', tanto por la calidad como por la extensión de su obra. Pasó su juventud en París, allí estudió Medicina y empezó a interesarse por el ocultismo, algo que lo acompañaría toda su vida. Según él mismo confesó, mientras sus compañeros se ocupaban de los problemas políticos de Europa y leían los autores de la ciencia oficial, él pasaba horas en la Biblioteca Nacional. > Gérard Encausse (La Coruña, 1865-Paris, 1916), better known by his pseudonym Papus, was a scholar, doctor of medicine and surgery, but also an astrologer and advisor to Tsar Nicholas II. He is considered "the Balzac of the occult," both for the quality and the extent of his work. He spent his youth in Paris, there he studied medicine and began to be interested in the occult, something that would accompany him throughout his life. As he himself confessed, while his companions dealt with political problems in Europe and read the authors of official science, he spent hours at the National Library.
