Smoking is considered a public health problem and a major contributor to morbidity and mortality worldwide. According to the WHO, it is responsible for 7 million deaths every year, reduces life expectancy by 10 years and is implicated in a number of oral and dental diseases. The electronic cigarette, also known as "vapotage", has become an alternative to conventional smoking. Although it is presented as a potentially less harmful alternative for smokers, it is the subject of many questions about health in general and oral health in particular. However, users of the product, the general public, healthcare professionals and anyone promoting it need to be given a clear message. In this work, which consists of a systematic review of the literature, we propose to compare the effects of electronic cigarettes and conventional smoking on the oral cavity.
