Autorenporträt
I have loved the story of the Potato Dolly since I was a small child. I told it to my children, and now I tell it to my grandchildren. A few years back, I published the book privately, for family, but this story is way too precious not to share it with others. Everyone who grows potatoes is familiar with potatoes with apendages, but they do not make it to the grocery store, and most of us have never seen one. I do not know if my grandmother made up the story, or if it was handed down to her. I would love to know if others have heard a similar story about a little pioneer girl making a doll out of a potato. I have enjoyed volunteering at This Is The Place Heritage Park with my grandchildren. It was the setting for the photographs in Elizabeth and the Potato Dolly. I am the happy grandmother of 40 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I grew up in rural Utah, Emery and Manti. I graduated from Brigham Young University and received my K-3 teaching certificate from Westminster College. I have had the privilege of living in France, the Dominican Republic and Chile and love the people and culture of each country. My husband and I are building a retirement cabin in the mining ghost town of Mammoth, Utah, where we plan to continue self-publishing our books. Visit us at goldstreetpublishers.com. We'd love to hear from you.
