In the field of Women's Health, most of the research carried out focuses mainly on Women's Cancer and Obstetrics. While experiencing her own puerperium, the author (a nurse) went through several new and unusual situations that sparked an interest in this little-researched area. This book brings to light the changes that occur in the puerperal woman's body, emotions, sexuality, family and social relationships, making it easier for health professionals to support the woman in her process of physical-psychic reorganization, especially when it comes to a puerperium with a newborn at risk (premature, low birth weight, congenital anomalies, etc.). We offer these professionals the results of a quantitative study with 193 mothers of NBs who were included in a Risk Baby Surveillance Program in the city of Maringá, State of Paraná, Brazil, and who were followed up at 45 days, 3 and 6 months after delivery with questions that addressed socioeconomic characteristics, obstetric and puerperal data.
