At the dawn of 1945, the Third Reich was teetering on the brink, but its fall had seemed unthinkable just a few months earlier. How could an empire that dominated Europe collapse so quickly and so brutally? This book takes you to the heart of the final days of the Nazi regime, where paranoia, betrayal and strategic errors sealed the fate of Hitler's Germany. Through never-before-published eyewitness accounts, accounts of decisive battles and behind-the-scenes glimpses of power, L'Empire en ruines reveals the unsuspected flaws that precipitated the end of a regime many thought indestructible.
