A few years ago, Côte d'Ivoire was compared to a "biological endocrine desert". Fortunately, this desert soon retreated, giving rise to a number of beautiful "hormonal oases" which have made it possible to diagnose endocrine diseases. While metabolic pathology is dominated by diabetes, endocrine pathology is led by thyroid disorders, particularly goiter and hyperthyroidism. Publications from other sub-Saharan African countries confirm that we share the same concerns and similar pathologies. This book, the fruit of more than thirty years' experience in the management of endocrine and metabolic diseases, is likely to indirectly "raise the profile of endocrine and metabolic diseases in Africa".
