With a view to the production of audiovisual works in Sergipe, and the possibility of conducting an argumentative and rhetorical analysis of this type of text, we took as our object of study the Sergipe short film Xandrilá, which portrays some aspects of the life of the character Renata and her partner Osvaldo. Based on this, we propose to analyse the generative path of meaning in the text, taking Greimasian semiotics as our starting point. We also aim to highlight the influence that argumentative elements have on the construction of meaning, considering the argumentative elements used to make the listener adhere to the discourse. Furthermore, through the concept of intertextuality, we intend to draw an analogy between the words Xandrilá (title of the work that comprises our corpus) and Shangri-la, which is a myth that emerged in 1925, based on the publication of the novel Lost Horizon. Finally, we believe that, with this, we will contribute to the dissemination of argumentative studies and observe how much the discourses conveyed express the image of a people. At the same time, we will be promoting, in a way, the state's film production, as the short film was produced by people from Sergipe.
