Dr. Pamela McCauley is an internationally recognized Industrial Engineering researcher, Certified Professional Ergonomist (C.P.E.), and expert in human factors, biomechanics, and ergonomics. With over 30 years of experience spanning academia, industry, and expert witness testimony, she has made significant contributions to the development of ergonomic principles in workplace safety, product design, and high-risk occupational environments. As a leader in ergonomics research, Dr. McCauley has authored over 150 technical publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and conference proceedings. She is the author of Ergonomics: Foundational Principles, Applications, and Technologies, a widely used textbook that provides an essential foundation in ergonomic science and its real-world applications. Her expertise in human-centered design, occupational biomechanics, and safety engineering has been instrumental in advancing ergonomics across multiple industries. In addition to her academic contributions, Dr. McCauley is a nationally sought-after expert witness, providing analysis and testimony in cases involving product liability, occupational safety, biomechanics, human factors, and human performance. Her work has influenced legal proceedings by applying scientific rigor to evaluating warnings, hazard communication, and workplace injuries. Dr. McCauley's career has also included leadership roles in government, industry, and higher education. She currently serves as the Dean of the School of Engineering at Widener University and previously held prominent roles at the National Science Foundation and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). Recognized for her contributions to STEM education and leadership, she has received numerous accolades, including induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and the Black Engineer of the Year Hall of Fame. As a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in STEM, Dr. McCauley continues to mentor the next generation of engineers, emphasizing the critical role of ergonomics in designing safe, efficient, and inclusive work environments.
