Henri de Régnier - Honfleur, 28 décembre 1864 ; Paris, 23 mai 1936. Écrivain, critique littéraire, essayiste, il fut d'abord et avant tout poète. Ses premières publications, alors qu'il venait d'avoir vingt ans, lui attirèrent immédiatement une renommée qui ne se démentit jamais. Son oeuvre poétique, teintée de Parnasse et de Symbolisme, reste une des plus abondantes et des plus remarquables de la langue française. Le 9 février 1911 elle lui ouvrit les portes de l'Académie française. Sa vie privée fut moins académique : son épouse Marie de Heredia, une des filles du poète, publia elle-même sous le pseudonyme de Gérard d'Houville, une oeuvre romanesque et poétique abondante. Marie entretenait une liaison avec l'écrivain Pierre Louÿs (qui finira par épouser sa soeur Louise), dont elle eut un fils, Pierre de Régnier, lui-même écrivain et poète.
