"An illuminating exploration of aromatherapy!" Janey Lee Grace, Author and Broadcaster In a world where mental health challenges are on the rise, Essential Oils to Ease Anxiety: The Alchemist's Guide to Serenity offers a beacon of hope and clarity. This ground-breaking guide, the fourth installment in an award-winning series on essential oils, combines decades of academic research, hands-on practice, and deep experiential insight to provide an indispensable resource for anyone seeking natural remedies for anxiety and emotional wellbeing. "Over the recent ten years, there has been a growing emphasis in the mental health profession on the importance of encouraging a healthy lifestyle alongside medical care. This is coupled with the recognition of the value of promoting self-care, resilience and empowerment as safe, effective and cost-effective approaches to be integrated into individualised treatment for depression and associated anxiety disorders. Integration is indeed the key to success and aromatherapy beautifully and safely complements standard psychiatric care practices. This text by Heather Dawn Godfrey is therefore very timely. Heather is well placed to write on this topic. As with her previous publications, through her well researched information and easily accessible writing style, she guides and enables the general reader to take positive, pragmatic, doable steps towards improving their own mental health. Through her longstanding experience as therapist, educator and award-winning author, Heather provides simple tools and strategies for priming and maintaining an inner locus of balance and control." Rhiannon Lewis, editor of the International Journal of Clinical Aromatherapy
Autorenporträt
I was introduced to integrated medicine (or alternative medicine, as it was coined in those days) philosophy and practice, and meditation (each dynamic dovetailed with the other), over fifty years ago. During those early years I worked as junior secretary for the Company Secretary of Lewis-Selfridges (London), but surrendered this role when Robert Tisserand invited me join his fledgling business. And so began my 'essential oil journey'. I was awarded a Bachelor of Science (Joint Honours) Degree in Counselling and Complementary Medicine (2:1), post graduate Masters Certificates in Integrated Mindfulness, and Supervision of Counsellors, and a Post Graduate (Adult) Teaching Certificate (PGCE) (2001/2002 University of Salford and University of Bolton respectively).I joined the Complementary Medicine team, University of Salford (School of Health Sciences and Social Care, now the School of Health and Society) in 2002, as programme lead for B.Sc. Integrated Therapy in Practice and B.Sc. Complementary Therapy in Practice, module lead for Aromatherapy, Supervision and CPD, Communication and Professional skills, and managed the in-house aromatherapy clinic for staff and students. I joined the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA) (2002) and was awarded a certificate of Fellowship in 2009 (roles included Council Member, Chair of Education, Examiner and curriculum development). I am also a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). Retiring from the University, I moved to Dorset, and currently reside in Lyme Regis. I signed a contract with Healing Arts Press, Inner Traditions (Vermont USA) in 2017, and have subsequently published three award-wining books through them: Healing with Essential Oils, Essential Oils for the Whole Body and Essential Oils for Mindfulness and Meditation. I am the mother of four grown up children, and graced grandmother of twelve grandchildren.
