Mark Twain, born as Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835-1910), was an American author and humorist. Twain is noted for his novels Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), which has been called the "Great American Novel," and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876). He also wrote poetry, short stories, essays, and non- fiction. Europe and Elsewhere is a collection of essays by him published posthumously in 1923.
