Matthew Cordell is an American illustrator, originally from South Carolina. His interest in drawing began in his childhood. He studied painting, sculpture, printmaking, and design. He moved to Chicago, where he met his wife and could fully dedicate himself to what he loved. He is the author of several picture books, including First Grade Dropout and Like Pickle Juice on a Cookie.
