Produktbeschreibung
This book deconstructed the five decade long-standing and pervasive misconception that Tiv men in Nigeria offer their wives to visitors for sex as a lifestyle. Through an interdisciplinary approach encompassing ethnographic research, historical analysis, and in-depth interview with Tiv community members, this study aimed to disentangle this complex web of misinterpretation and misunderstanding surrounding this cultural practice. Contrary to the widely propagated notion, the article presented compelling evidence that refuted the existence of this practice as a prevalent or ongoing tradition within the Tiv community. By critically analyzing the origins and perpetuation of this fallacy, this study revealed a series of misinterpretations, misrepresentations, and misunderstandings that have contributed to its persistence. These misconceptions have not only distorted the image of the Tiv people but have also perpetuated cultural stereotypes.
