Lithic assemblages of the Mousterian in France have a number of local and regional characteristics, as well as shared affinities between different industries. This study focuses on assemblages from the Rhone Valley and in particular those that have been termed `Quina' type, characterised by specific types of debitage and retouch, large proportions of scrapers within assemblages and certain cultural-stylistic or functional qualities.
