Eyes Everywhere Searching for Jewish Children, takes the reader to the precarious time of World War II. On September 8, 1939, as Nazis march toward the streets of Warsaw, Peter's parents race to pack jewels and suitcases, stacking them under his six-year-old sister Minna's baby carriage. A rail trip to Paris takes them to grandparents Bubbe and Grandfather. But in two months, danger becomes real, as the kopgeld, French spies, search to turn in Jews for money. Peter and Minna leave with their mother Chana by train, hoping to meet their father in Spain. Disappointed when their father does not arrive, they journey to Lisbon, Portugal, where Bubbe's old childhood friend, Dona Grace, welcomes them, but the Estado Novo, Secret Police are watching. Suddenly, the thirty-day limit for Jews is enforced. Dona Grace's contact, Danilo, who works on a coaster transporting food and tungsten, accompanies the children to Ireland. The caring Jewish Leib family, with their son and a daughter, will take Peter and Minna into their family. Chana returns to Paris on an order by the Warsaw police. But new dangers await, even in neutral Ireland. Will Saul Knobel escape from Warsaw, Chana from Paris, and Peter and Minna from Ireland?
