The main aim of this book is to investigate the interactions and discourses constructed between teachers and coordinators of a language course in Rio de Janeiro. Considering a context in which the relationships between them can be conflicting, due to the hierarchy and power discourses involved, it is possible to observe traces of cooperation and attempts at rapprochement in this interaction. Situated within the scope of Discourse Studies - with contributions from pragmatics, discourse analysis and conversation analysis - the overall aim of the research is to investigate how Politeness and Face strategies are used by the speakers investigated and is surprising in the analysis of the data generated.
Autorenporträt
She has a Master's degree in Language Studies with a concentration in Linguistics and a degree in Portuguese/English Literature from UFF. She works as a teacher and pedagogical coordinator, has received awards, promoted courses, lectures and teaching materials. English teaching, the identity of the pedagogical coordinator and their interactions are her areas of expertise and interest.
