William Staub was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He retired after working with special needs students in inner-city Baltimore, Maryland. He studied novel writing at the University of Maryland and has been writing novels since 1989. He is a husband, father, grandfather, and a great-grandfather, currently living in Florida with his family.
