Beryl Carpenter is a native of the Paci c Northwest. She has traveled widely but nds there is no place like home among the tall trees, moss and drizzle. She has degrees in English and Spanish and a master's in English as a Second Language. Researching local history is a pleasure, as are walking, reading, cooking and quilting. Also in the Addie series is Trouble at Port Gamble. A third book is coming soon: What Lurks in the Woods? e author's other love is medieval Spain. She has written three historical novels taking place in 15th century Spain, at the time of Columbus: Far From a Pleasant Land, Toward a Dark Horizon and When Doves Laughed.
