Autorenporträt

Mario Theodorou is an award-winning writer and director known for his work in drama and comedy. He studied at Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan and taught soccer for MLS in Arizona and LA before moving back home to London. His short films have won numerous awards internationally, with selections and nominations from prestigious Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying festivals: 'Anonymous' was nominated for the Short Film Award at the prestigious Oscar-qualifying Austin Film Festival and was also a double winner at FIFF for Best Narrative Short & Best Male Actor; 'The Gifted Hypothesis' was selected for the Oscar-qualifying Flickers Rhode Island Film Festival; and his radio drama 'The Cyprus Missing' played on BBC America. Recognised by the BBC's Hotlist, he was selected for the BBC Drama Room in 2018 and the BBC Drama Writer's Programme in 2019. Mario has also received original commissions from the BBC and Sky, and his debut radio play aired on BBC Radio 4 in 2020 and is currently available on BBC Sounds.
