This book, part of the Gender Perspectives in Law series, seeks to explore the link between theory and practice in contemporary feminisms. Editors of this book recognize that the focus on theoretical and ideological frameworks must be complemented by a reflection on the political and legal value of concrete practices. Therefore, the aim is to investigate this longstanding and successful interplay between theory and practices from different perspectives and methodological approaches, ranging from empirical legal and political studies to doctrinal contribution compound with national or thematic case studies, historical and comparative assessments, domestic as well as international perspectives, conceptual as well as practical considerations.

This book considers historical aspects of women s political activism and practices, analyzing what aspects have been particularly relevant in the construction of women s political action, as well as asking what part of the feminist movements of the past is relevant for contemporary political struggles. Additionally, this book explores contemporary legal manifestations of gender oppression and systems of privilege. The authors also examine emancipatory tendencies in modern law, politics, and culture. Contributions to this book are divided into three sections.

Section One - Historicity of Feminist Legal and Political Theories and Practices, provides theoretical and historical readings of feminist practices, including the origins of various feminist movements addressing women s political and social agencies for change in the past and present.

Section Two - Feminist Approaches to Policies and Practices for Socio-Legal Changes, brings together the work of scholars who study matters related to the provision of rights and discrimination in areas such as the labor market, citizenship, and EU policies.

Section Three - Feminist Intersectionality: Practices of Care, Work, Bodies and Identities, concentrates on various conceptual and methodological issues within feminist theories and practices including bodies, identities, emotions, and practices of care.

The book is written for the international audiences - including feminist scholars and activists, agents of political change, legal and public policy practitioners, and for students and teachers around the globe.
Autorenporträt
Fabio Macioce (Milano, 1976), PhD, is a full professor of Philosophy of Law and Bioethics at LUMSA University, School of Law, Rome. He held visiting positions at Cambridge University, UK, Universidad de Valencia, and University of Oxford. Since 2019, he has been working as an expert for the Council of Europe in the field of bioethics. His research focuses on individual and group vulnerability; migration, democracy, and legal pluralism; legal feminism; bioethics and informed consent; the relationship between law and religion; and the impact of AI on human rights. He has written and edited several books and journal articles in English, Italian, French, and Spanish. His last book is The Politics of Vulnerable Groups: Implications for Philosophy, Law, and Political Theory, Springer Nature, 2022. Zara Saeidzadeh is an affiliate assistant professor at Simone de Beauvoir Institute, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Zara’s interdisciplinary research falls in the field of law, gender, human rights, sociology and feminist decolonial methodologies. Over the past decade, she has devoted her work on the socio-legal examination of policies and practices towards trans* people including her postdoctoral project which she completed on violence against trans* women in Sweden, funded by Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare. She has published extensively in top-tier journals including Feminist Legal Studies and Social Politics: International Studies in Gender, State and Society. Dragica Vujadinovi¿ is a full professor at the Faculty of Law (FL), University of Belgrade (UB), teaching Political and Legal Theories at master and doctoral studies, as well as Introduction to the EU Political System at master’s study program Master in European Integration (MEI) and Feminist Political and Legal Theories, Gender Competent Family Law, and Methodology and Practical skills at master`s study program Law and Gender (LAWGEM). She was the Head of MEI and LAWGEM master academic studies. She was the UB coordinator for the Erasmus Mundus Design Measures project, that aimed at creating  with the partners from Örebro University, Sweden and LUMSA, Italy the joint master program Law and Gender, Intersectionality and Diversity (LAWGID EMDM, 2023-2024) and for applying for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master grant for this master program  (EMJM LAWGID). She has been the co-editor of the Springer book series Gender Perspectives in Law. She published 20 monographs and edited volumes and made many contributions for international and national academic journals.
