The management of protected areas, especially with regard to their flora and vegetation, requires a previous and thorough knowledge of the species and communities or assemblages that make up the phytocenosis, in order to be able to make a good management. This was the purpose of the present work, for which a floristic and physiognomic evaluation of the forest formations present in this protected area with an outstanding natural element management category was carried out.Among the most relevant results was the presence of 446 species and 312 genera, belonging to 94 botanical families. Forty-one endemic Pan-Cuban species were collected. Three species threatened with extinction were also collected. Related to the types of morphological adaptation, 19 species of plants that integrate the wooded areas of the mountain range present microphilia, 11 have thorns, three have succulent leaves and 12 have hard leaflets. The diversity of species is high because these are mature and structurally complex forests.
