The present monograph presents a critical insight into the concept of foraging mode of thought, a binary explanatory tool, which conceptualises the social reality into foraging and accumulation categories. Within this conceptual frame an empirical study of the Sulungs, a forager community of Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India, whose social reality is a manifestation of its own cultural image and an extended relationship with neighbouring Nyishi tribe, subordinate by any standard, is attempted.
