Contemplation gives rise to activity, and activity, in turn, gives rise to more contemplation. Boyer, a retired priest of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, a well-known spiritual master, and a retired New Testament professor, has been writing books on biblical, liturgical, and devotional spirituality for over fifty years. He has authored seventy-nine previous books, including two books of history, one novel, one memoir, and one book of poetry, and three previous editions of this work. This is his fortieth Wipf and Stock title.
