Privacy First Marketing is, in part, a personal journey from unaware participant to what-on-earth-have-I-been-doing, and in part, a practical guide for navigating a fundamentally rigged marketplace. It breaks down privacy regulations and information technology into human speak, grounding it in historical and current context. Said about the book: "I've read it. And I'm getting this one for our entire marketing department!" Zorana Frydal Privacy Officer at Stena Metall AB "The book we mar-tech professionals have longed for since being forced to handle the implications of the GDPR but not knowing how, is finally here. Vibeke manages to explain this complex topic in an easy & very engaging storytelling style!" Richard Andersson Group Digital Manager at Trelleborg

Autorenporträt
My only real talent is asking stupid questions, and then asking the next one, and the next, until something finally clicks. For me, it feels less like persistence and more like an itch of curiosity I cannot stop scratching. The trouble with scratching at the intersection of data protection law and information technology is that the more you dig, the deeper the rabbit hole goes. But down here in the tunnels is where I have discovered something important: privacy is not just about compliance. It is about how we build trust, how we relate to each other, and how marketing can actually become stronger when it starts from respect for peoples data. That is what keeps me fascinated, and what keeps me writing. Before pivoting into marketing, I worked as a journalist and editorial writer in Sweden, a night cab driver, and a student of political science and history. Today I live in Denmark with my very Danish family and run a privacy tech startup, Peak Privacy, focused on mobile app compliance. None of this was planned, it just unfolded one question at a time. But along the way I have been lucky enough to meet people and learn lessons that made this book possible. This feels like home now, and I hope anyone who reads the book will keep the conversation going, by asking me questions, or better yet, by asking the relentless follow-up questions that matter most in their own work.
