In 2006, Nelda received the Secretary of State Award for Outstanding Volunteerism Abroad for Africa. Hundreds of African children have benefitted from her generous and caring assistance over the years. She continues to support HIV/AIDS women and children in Eswatini (Swaziland) in Southern Africa. Nelda is an avid photographer and has published 46 photo books about African wildlife and people.
