Skyscape archaeology is a relatively new approach to investigating connections between the ground and the sky in archaeological contexts. Since 2014 it has imbued archaeoastronomy with the diverse methodologies and theoretical frameworks that characterise modern archaeology and anthropology, with a perspective that progressively bridges interdisciplinary gaps. As a result, archaeologists today increasingly recognise the skyscape as an important component of any research project that tries to understand the lifeworlds of past societies. From the Ground to the Sky commemorates the tenth anniversary of skyscape archaeology. Assembling papers from the Journal of Skyscape Archaeology, this book demonstrates the theoretical and methodological breadth that defines this new wave of archaeoastronomy, as well as the socio-cultural depth of interpretation. It serves not only as a celebration of research already accomplished over the last decade, but also as a testament to what skyscape research can look like.
