From Womb to Bloom: Integrating the Inner Child/Children, third in The Autobiographical Trilogy of Kae K. series, is as a cross between the saying, "I make plans, and God laughs," and the book The Little Engine who Could-also described as, "Florance Nightingale meets Professor Higgins." This book will especially be of interest to readers who are in any twelve-step fellowships, have loved ones dealing with addiction, or are addiction and mental health professionals. From Womb to Bloom continues with the female protagonist/author who is a retired licensed vocational nurse (LVN), a registered addiction specialist, as well as a recovering alcoholic, food addict, and sex and love addict in her thirty-eighth year of recovery. The author gives an honest account of what it takes to maintain sobriety and abstinence in food addiction over years of slips and relapses. The love story between the English gentlemen from London deepens as they deal with loss, health issues, and death while the unstoppable, faith-filled heroine focuses on an intense level of recovery and integrating her inner child/children. From Womb to Bloom is a story of hope and love filled with the miracles and strength sobriety brings.
Autorenporträt
Karren Kearney first dreamed of becoming a writer in 1955 as a ten-year-old falling in love with Nancy Drew books. The excitement of being a detective and figuring things out drew her in. Then Life or God threw in a pesky 'plot twist,' and she ended up going to nursing school, becoming a licensed vocational nurse (LVN). Karren's life really changed as she was fighting to recover from her first addiction-food! This search led to a career change when she started working as a mental health nurse in 1992. She had to become a detective to discover, uncover, and recover from all her addictions. In her early 50s, in 2002, she returned to college and became an alcohol and drug counselor, and in 2005 a registered addiction specialist. In retirement, Karren's dream of becoming a writer came to fruition. Her first book, The Unseen Side of Me: A Journey from Disgrace to Grace was published in 2009. The second book of her autobiographical trilogy, The Evolution of Intimacy, A Personal Story: Hope for Adult Children of Alcoholics and Others in Dysfunctional Relationships, followed in 2019. Both were rated five-star reviews on Amazon. From Womb to Bloom: Integrating the Inner Child/Children completes The Autobiographical Trilogy of Kae K., in which she shares her own experiences as an addict, nurse, and counselor in the hope of helping others in their own recovery. There is no cure for addictions, but recovery can help a person stay in remission one day at a time. Karren lives in Southern California with husband (and editor) of twenty years and their cat, Cleopatra.
