Hollows. They are the space behind your eyes when you stare in the mirror. The dark holes in a gnarled tree that watch you when walking alone in the forest. And the emptiness within the soul of the Sixth Daughter of Gaia. Our world is a small speck in perspective to the Galaxy of the Dead, yet Heaven and Hell are at war to tip the balance in their favor, and the Earth is the Key. There is an ancient secret scrolled across our living wood. Engravings that make our trees more vital and wise than we could have ever imagined. Soon, these ancient wooden wizard guardians will return only to fight against their own demonic forms. Three loyal human brothers are drawn into the struggle to save the planet. They witness this awakening unfold from the beginning and discover that they too, are deeply intertwined in Mother Earth's roots, having a bloodline of mysterious planetary guardians imbued with strength, speed, and stamina. As the battle between light and dark intensifies, weird galactic humanoids, modern pirates, and powerful tree folk start to join the cause; yet, the demons are working hard to establish their foothold, and new trees rise with dark magic, skeleton armies begin to march, and the hollows burn with crimson light. In this breakthrough punk fantasy from environmental activist and author Efren Stat, humans have cut down trees for so long that we now face the consequences when they rise up to do the same to us.
Efren Stat is Guy Galzerano's pseudonym. He found his pen name suitable for his rambunctious novels after a hospital visit in 2009, where he was stabbed in the stomach and was given a code name during his stay, so his assaulters didn't come in to finish the job. This reflects Guy's character in always wanting to be the first to step into dangerous situations, an ideology of being at the forefront of the story and knowing the full truth. Before creative writing his desire was to become a stoic journalist that honored truth before all else. Now, he is very focused on the refinement of environmental wellbeing and industrial regulations. So, journalism inched its way into his fictionary creations. There is a certain style to Mr. Galzerano's writing which is original and playful. He mixes in music, poems, sounds, and new words to describe a situation with clairvoyant fluidity. Recently working on recording his own books for audio track versions, he has the potential to reframe the societal norm of reading and listening to books. Guy is proud to have created an entire original universe and will continue his storytelling within this realm of fantasy. He owns his own Stone Masonry business in Santa Barbara California. He played rugby for 10 years and had to retire after two fractured hips while playing. Breaking his body in multiple ways led to him shifting his life into writing stories that could possibly make a difference. He went to college in Monterey, California and Majored in Creative Writing and Social Action.
