This geometrical optics course, designed for MP and PT preparatory classes and first-year physics undergraduates, explains the fundamental principles of light propagation. It places particular emphasis on their application to the design and operation of optical instruments. It covers essential concepts such as reflection, refraction and Snell-Descartes laws, enabling us to understand the behavior of light rays in different media. In addition, it explores optical systems in detail, including thin lenses, spherical mirrors and diaphragms. Particular attention is paid to image formation and…mehr

Produktbeschreibung
This geometrical optics course, designed for MP and PT preparatory classes and first-year physics undergraduates, explains the fundamental principles of light propagation. It places particular emphasis on their application to the design and operation of optical instruments. It covers essential concepts such as reflection, refraction and Snell-Descartes laws, enabling us to understand the behavior of light rays in different media. In addition, it explores optical systems in detail, including thin lenses, spherical mirrors and diaphragms. Particular attention is paid to image formation and optical aberrations, highlighting their impact on the quality of optical systems. This course provides a solid foundation for understanding optical phenomena and developing a thorough grasp of the principles governing geometrical optics.
