Dr. Johnston was trained to preach by his homiletical mentor, Dr. Stephen F. Olford and was in the first graduating class of his school of preachers. They co-wrote a book together on Dr. Olford's homiletical mentor, Dr. Graham Scroggie, entitled "Olford On Scroggie". Dr. Johnston has had a prolific pen ministry with over thirty published books of some which include: The Two-Volume Definitive Biography of George Whitefield, Foreword by J. I. Packer; The Authorized Biography of J.Sidlow Baxter, Foreword by Adrian Rogers; a definitive biography on the evangelist Asahel Nettleton; a biography on Rolfe Barnard; a biography on the evangelist Samuel Porter Jones, entitled, "Sam Jones A New Biography." His other books can be found at Old Paths Publications and Gospel Folio Press of Canada. Dr. Johnston has over 2,200 sermons on SermonAudio (of which about 1,000 were preached in a parking lot across the street from a gay bar). His sermons have been heard in over seventy countries and his most renown sermon: "America: Revival or Ruin" has received comments from all over the world. E. A. Johnston is a Fellow of the Stephen Olford Institute for Biblical Preaching. He has two earned doctorates: a British endorsed Ph.D., and a D. B. S. He has been a student of revival for more than four decades and has visited many historical revival sites throughout Great Britain and America as a research scholar. Surviving a major heart attack and subsequent quadruple bypass surgery, he wears a pacemaker and defibrillator. He still preaches and writes and resides in Clearwater, Florida. His favorite Bible verse is 2 Chronicles 16:9 and of that he states: "God is still on the lookout for a Moody who will be on the out and out for God in a life of consecration to Him."
