Georges Riom was a French botanical illustrator renowned for his lush, sinuous depictions of flora during the height of the Art Nouveau movement. Born in Lyon, a city renowned for its textile design and natural sciences, Riom studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and developed a profound fascination with the intersection of art and botany. Influenced by the works of Alphonse Mucha and the scientific precision of Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Riom cultivated a unique style that blended decorative elegance with botanical accuracy. His illustrations featured undulating lines, organic forms, and richly detailed plant life, often framed with ornamental motifs drawn from nature. Riom's most celebrated works include Flore des Rêves (1903), a collection of fantastical plant studies, and his illustrations for Le Jardin Intérieur, a compendium of medicinal and symbolic plants published in 1911.
