Jason discovers in this book that he needs a way to carry his money to the bank. Book two finds Jason encountering real-life banking experiences in Giraffes Do Not Have Credit Cards. This story finds him thrust into the temptations of life and he finds himself in a financial hole. In the third segment of Jason's adventures, Giraffes Do Not Have Collateral, he realizes that education is the key to success and going back to school will enhance his lifelong dream of starting his own business. He discovers that not being able to borrow money from the bank creates new challenges. All three of these books walk the reader into the fourth episode for Jason in his Giraffes Do Not Have Red Wagons. Note to teachers, parents and/or reader: This Jason series was written with several goals in mind. The first and foremost objective and goal was to develop the love for reading among young children. Second, it was written to help teach reading using phonics or whole language. The teacher/parent is the arbiter on this. Third, expanding vocabulary and developing sentence structure plays a big part in all of these series because it is key to the developmental process of reading. Last, but not least, a major focus for all these books is to teach basic concepts of our free market economy. The author is hopeful that the love of giraffes attracts children and adults to read about the adventures that Jason encounters. These giraffe stories were written with a lot of love for the endangered giraffes and the love of reading. Make these giraffe stories your own in whatever way that fits the culture of your classroom or home.
