Born and adopted in New York City, Edward Di Gangi is the author of two books. The first, The Gift Best Given (2020), recounts his search for the woman who placed him for adoption at the time of his birth and the unexpected discoveries he made during the course of his journey. In his second book, Gliding Through Goodbye (2025), he re-creates his birth mother's diary in the years after placing him for adoption. The diary both traces her travels as she returns to performing and recounts her emotional journey.
Di Gangi currently lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina with his wife, Linda. Their son, James, and his wife, Renee, and their granddaughter, Emery, live in nearby Durham.
