She specializes in microbiology, food safety, and biotechnology, with a strong focus on sustainable food systems and value chain management. Her work bridges academia, industry, and public engagement, providing expertise on innovation, food safety, and training the next generation of scientists and professionals. Dr. Phemelo Tamasiga is a Senior Researcher at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability, Bonn. He works at the intersection of trade and energy transition, focusing on their implications for global value chains. His contributions to food security highlight actionable lessons for policymakers on how sustainable trade strategies can drive inclusive development and strengthen international cooperation. Dr. Malebogo Bakwena is Senior Lecturer and  Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Botswana. An award-winning economist recognized as a 2021 SAWIL Trailblazer winner, she has led impactful research on socio-economic challenges in Botswana and Africa.
