Autorenporträt
Born in Jersey City, NJ, Rob Wiggz grew up in Curries Woods Public Housing. He may not have had a lot of money but had a wealth of love and support from his family and friends. Rob's father has been incarcerated since he was three and his mom died of AIDS when he was just eight. Raised by his grandmother, he spent most of his youth working odd jobs to make sure they had enough to get by. Shovelling snow, washing cars, cleaning restaurant parking lots - Rob was even bagging groceries by ten years old. The arts were Rob's escape from the violence and adversity so common in his city. He made music and wrote and performed plays for his church. But he had a particular interest in the enthralling writing styles and illustrations of children's book authors like Dr. Seuss and P.D. Eastman. Rob combined his education in nutrition with his childhood passion to write his first book, Good Veggie, Bad Veggie, I Hate All Veggies. He writes for his wife and children, and to show all those kids growing up similar to him how important it is to stay healthy and have a positive outlook on life.
