Tulsidas, the prominent poet and saint of Indian devotional literature, was born in 1532 AD in Rajapur (in today's Sant Kabir Nagar district) of Uttar Pradesh. He was born in a Brahmin family, and his father's name was Gulabo and mother's name was Halku. The life and works of Tulsidas are helpful in understanding the social, religious, and cultural conditions of his time. After the death of his parents in childhood, Tulsidas was raised by his guru Narharidas. In his childhood, the spirit of spirituality and devotion was awakened inside Tulsidas.
