Autorenporträt
Charity CB Metzger is a dance education artist for the District of Columbia Public Schools and a passionate advocate for dance as an integrative tool in public education. She began her dance training at an inner-city dance school, the Dance Exchange, and Charles R. Drew Middle School in Miami, FL. Charity attended New World School of the Arts before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Howard University and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance Education from the University of Colorado. She has trained with prestigious companies such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Dallas Black Dance Theater, and Jacob's Pillow. Charity has performed with Garth Fagan Dance Company, the Philadelphia Dance Company as a member of D/2, and toured with Shaquille O'Neal's Allstar Comedy Jam with comedian Michael Blackson. She has also shared the stage with Tony and Grammy award winners Wynton Marsalis and Jessye Norman. As an educator, Charity has had students perform at the White House, the DC Mayor's Office, and Dance Place. Her greatest joy is empowering students through dance and helping them find their creative voices. Charity is the author of Grace is Sufficient, a children's book about self-acceptance and encouraging others to feel confident in themselves. She lives with her husband and their three daughters, who inspire her daily.
