Max Lang ha ilustrado más de 20 libros, incluyendo toda la serie de Gruñón. Cuando no está trabajando en libros, hace películas. Ha co-dirigido diversas películas animadas, tales como The Snail and the whale, Zog, Room on the Broom y The Gruffalo. Es ganador de dos Oscares, dos premios Emmys, el premio BAFTA y muchos otros premios.
