Guido Baselgia, born and brought up in the Engadine, is regarded as one of the leading photographers in Switzerland today. He established his reputation above all with his photographic forays into Eastern Europe. More recently he has produced photo essays containing a memorable series of images extending over a number of years, documenting the work of the artists Tadashi Kawamata and Richard Tuttle for the Kunsthaus Zug. For the past three years Baselgia has been occupied with a large- scale project on the landscape and life in the Engadine. The resulting images (Baryt prints) are both fascinating and unsettling - portraying the apparently familiar landscape of the Engadine in a strikingly unfamiliar manner.
