Welcome to the new and improved second edition of Halfway Home, a rescue dog's sky-high journey to acceptance. This elevated version features text and illustration adjustments. It also shares professional photography of the main character, rescue dog Zeke, and the author, Erin Mariah Murphy, in her pilot role. The second edition's text and illustration changes intend to connect deeper with readers. It provides an excellent perspective on how aviation helps dog adoptions nationwide. Lonely Zeke is stuck in an abandoned home, left to stare out his window and dream. Dream of a place where he belongs. Until one day, a rescue flight lands. Aviation and animal rescue teams help this lost puppy find his forever home. This heartwarming picture book is based on actual events and shows how many shelter animals experience freedom flights within their adoption process. Halfway Home is the debut book by international pilot-author Erin Mariah Murphy. It's based on her rescue pup Zeke's journey to find his forever home. This found-family story is ideal for adoptive families, big-hearted aviators, and those who want to cuddle up with a furry companion to read. Halfway Home is a delightful read for all ages, traditionally for ages 4-8, alternatively for ages 4-dog mom or 4-dog dad.
Autorenporträt
Erin Mariah Murphy is the author of Halfway Home, an airline pilot, and animal advocate. Literary seeds were planted when Erin adopted her first rescue pup, Zeke, and volunteered with animal air-rescue services whereby at-risk animals are efficiently moved from overcrowded shelters to shelters with more resources by air transports. Erin has been flying airplanes since she was fourteen years old. It was not until she was established at a legacy major airline that she volunteered with her local SPCA. So, it wasn't until midlife that she saw the magnitude and frequency at which at-risk animals were rescued through air transports to safe havens. Inspired and head over heels in love with her first adopted rescue pup, Zeke, she enrolled in picture book writing courses. She hopes Halfway Home inspires the next generation of pet advocates, aviation lovers, and foster/adoptive families.
