Le Dr I. Niyas Ahamed a obtenu son doctorat sous la supervision du Dr T.P. Sastry, scientifique principal et directeur du laboratoire des bioproduits du Central Leather Research Institute (Institut central de recherche sur le cuir) de Chennai. Il occupe actuellement le poste de professeur adjoint et dirige un projet financé par le DST (Département de la science et de la technologie) dans son laboratoire de nanobiotechnologie du Sacred Heart College (université autonome) de Tirupattur, en Inde.
