What is wrong with our church? As a pastor and church consultant I have heard that question over and over again. Concerned pastors, frustrated church boards and upset congregational members have struggled over what to do about shrinking attendances, unmet budgets, dissatisfied church people and ministry programs that just never seem to get off the ground. This book with its stories and illustrations from many churches with whom I have worked has been written to provide an encouraging and enlightening answer to that question. My approach in consulting with churches and ministers has been to be keenly honest, strongly biblical, and engagingly sensitive. It has always been positive from the start and refreshingly to-the-point.
Autorenporträt
In addition to his work as a pastor and theologian, Carl Shank is a layout and type designer having started with IBM Selectric Composers and phototypesetters in the early 1980s and then Apple LaserWriters in 1985 and beyond. He worked for a regular Washington D.C. area print shop heading up the typesetting and layout department in the early 1980s. Carl designed an initial Greek font for the Zondervan Corporation in the early 1990s and has worked with his own company, CARE Typography, since the late 1980s. He has developed an appreciation for not merely the mechanics of good typesetting and layout work, but also the fine art of the craft of typesetting. This Bible type history is from a deep dive study of the history of typography and printing, as indicated by the Selected Bibliography. Carl is grateful for all the professional typesetters and designers who have offered assistance over the years and submit this booklet as an ongoing study of the field. cshanktype@gmail.com www.caretypography.com
