Hemicelluloses: Raw Materials for Bioproducts presents recent information on hemicelluloses that can be used to obtain bioproducts. The book covers separation processes from different biomass sources, characterization and properties, also include a wide range of applications in chemical processing, composite materials production, food processing and pharmaceuticals, as well as major challenges for successful future scale-up production. It presents an up-to-date review of the major innovations in the field of biopolymers and provides reference material for future research in the field of hemicelluloses-based applications, which are timely due to the sustainable, recyclable and eco-friendly demand for highly innovative materials made from renewable resources.
Bogdan Marian Tofanica studied chemical engineering (main focus pulp and paper science and technology) at Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi, where he finished his Phd for research on availability and characterization of papermaking fibres from nonwoods plants. He has been a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow and has several years of post-doctoral experience in Italy, Belgium, UK, Republic of Moldova and Romania. His research interest includes wood and biomass structure, chemistry, technology and engineering; natural fibres and lignocellulosics application in pulp and paper, bio-based materials and composites, production of chemicals and biofuels; green chemistry, renewable energies and sustainable technologies.
