A memoir and warning of sorts, Hi! I'm Your New Best Friend is bound to keep readers interested. This book is without fear or favor when describing my personal thoughts and the actions of others. Written so that teenagers and adults alike could relate, Hi! I'm Your New Best Friend would be an escape from the dark and haunting memoirs laden with sex, drugs, and the inevitable story of success and change at the end. It is a book that could be read quickly and easily at work, at home, or on the toilet. A comedic tone is necessary when explaining these ventures. The stories include skinny dipping with six other guys and one girl at a secluded "paradise" called The Spot, having a crush on the self proclaimed school hot mess, obsessive adventures with a groups of friends called Super Crew, and stalking a boy in the mall, then befriending him, and kissing his ex-boyfriend .
Kashawn Taylor holds a BA in English and Psychology and an MA in English and Creative Writing. His "prison writing" has been featured in several publications, including Prison Journalism Project, The Blotter Magazine, Minutes Before Six, Evening Street Review's DIY Prison Project, and Indiana Review. Taylor's work will also appear in the inaugural issue of Beyond Bars from Georgia State University and Poetry Magazine. Additionally, he has an upcoming essay on Minutes Before Six and the first chapter of Violent Offender, his memoir detailing his experiences as a Black, queer, educated first-time inmate, will be published in an upcoming issue of Oyster River Pages.
